Concept Modeller,
continued.

The Wisdom Systems mark — a woven lattice monogram

In the late 1980s, Wisdom Systems shipped the Concept Modeller — one of the first commercial knowledge-based engineering (KBE) systems, a contemporary of ICAD. The idea was radical then: instead of drawing each design, engineers captured their knowledge — the rules, the constraints, the way a product configures itself — and the system generated the designs. Change a requirement; the model rebuilt.

It ran on Lisp machines and workstations that cost as much as a house. The engineers who used it never forgot what it felt like: the model knew things. It sized its own parts, counted its own fasteners, priced its own bill of materials.

MetaModel is that idea, rebuilt for now — by people who were there. It's founded by a Wisdom Systems veteran, and it carries the Concept Modeller's premise into the browser: formulas you already know from spreadsheets, rules that create and place parts, live 3D that reconfigures as you type, and one-click publishing so the result is an app anyone can use — no Lisp machine required.

If you used the Concept Modeller — or ICAD, or their descendants — we'd genuinely love to hear from you: hello@metamodel.app.
